Program

Scott Spradling is an Emmy award winning former reporter and anchor for WMUR-TV in Manchester, NH.  He served as the station’s political director for 12 years, and co-anchored News9 at 5:00 with Jean Mackin for nearly 8 years.  During his tenure, Scott covered three NH Presidential Primaries for the station, and was honored to participate in three national debates over that span, working with the likes of Charlie Gibson, Wolf Blitzer and Ted Koppel.  In 2001, Scott had the distinction of being the first local reporter to interview President George W Bush in the Oval Office, three months after the inauguration.
When not tracking Presidential hopefuls, Scott’s main political beat was covering New Hampshire state house politics, following major issues of the day and covering local elections.  From 1996-2008, Scott and the WMUR team covered every major political event in New Hampshire.  He also hosted a weekly political talk show, called Close-Up, where he regularly interviewed the main newsmakers in the Granite State scene.

Before WMUR, Scott worked for WGIR radio in Manchester.  He graduated from Syracuse University in 1993 with a degree in broadcast journalism and worked for a total of 15 years in the news business.
Scott left WMUR three years ago to start his own consulting and public relations business, called The Spradling Group. He now uses use his rolodex to help clients and local companies achieve their business goals through strategic communications, crisis management, public relations, marketing, advertising and lobbying.

Communication Management During a Crisis

With 15 years of experience in radio and broadcast news in New Hampshire, Scott Spradling has covered the major events of the decade and brings a unique perspective to messaging and crisis management. Scott also has worked with numerous businesses and organizations to help them prepare for confrontational issues or deal with the media when reporters are knocking on the door. He anticipates the tough questions corporate leaders often face, because he has asked them before. He knows how the media works and understands the political and business landscape in the Granite State unlike few in the business today. Scott offers valuable input in rebuilding corporate and institutional image and enhancing positive relations with the public, customers, opinion leaders, and the media.

Join us on February 14th where Scott will share his knowledge of crisis management to help HR professionals that maybe on the front line of having to communicate to both the media, the employees, or the employee’s families.  He will discuss how to stay in control and teach you what not to do when the media comes knocking at your door.
